Grosset Springvale Riesling 2014

Springvale_2014_no shadowThe outstanding vintage is evident, too, in the 2014 Grosset Springvale Riesling which has impressive finesse and balance between intense primary fruit and schisty minerality. There are typically restrained aromatics, pure lime zest and lemon juice flavours with savoury overtones, taut structure and lively zingy acidity with some flinty notes to finish. This is a satisfying riesling the hallmarks of which are its generosity and harmony. It will give delight in the short term yet can be allowed to mature in a cool dark place.

WBM Trade ‘100 of the Best’ Tyson Stelzer March 2015

…Signature lime, lemon and granny smith apple fruit is nuanced with kaffir lime spice. Impressive concentration carries with outstanding persistence… 95 Points.

Sarah Ahmed (UK) ‘The Wine Detective’ March 2015

…It follows through on a deliciously tangy, textural palate with chalky acidity and lip-smacking but ripe lemon juice and perfumed zest. Again, whilst normally I expect Watervale rieslings to show great generosity from the off, Springvale 2014 really leads on the back palate. An uber-long rapier-like finish is pithy and precise. Plenty of excitement now; plenty of excitement yet to come. The power of organics?

Campbell Mattinson ‘Wine Front’ 20 August 2014

This is an exciting release. Pure Clare, pure Watervale, pure Grosset and pure riesling. Dry, chalky, talc-like and long. Sometimes dryness has a glitter to it, a cut, the sensation of quartz. It does here. Lime zest and lime juice notes give the flavours flow, run, race. Arrestingly good.  Drink 2015-2025+.  95 points
