Well, seriously, the 2023 Grosset rieslings are wonderful. This has you at hello. It’s structured and a touch reserved but there’s decent flavour both at the outset and throughout and then the finish, well, it saves its best for last. This wine really does seal the deal. Chalk, lime, fennel, a grainy/skinsy aspect to the finish but this is a wine of great fruit purity, finesse and finish. It’s delicious. It impresses with its structure. And it has that extra flourish.

A flavoursome release of this stalwart Clare riesling; easy access in youth with a sense of high drinkability, concentration of flavour and crystalline acidity. Scents of frangipani, sweet lime, ozone and green apple with similar flavours and a fine, chalky pucker to texture. There's a general prettiness, an inviting juiciness, despite the excellent, powdery textural elements and a freshness overall. It delivers a serious expression of the variety and feels like it is in the zone in youth, yet potential for very long cellaring in the same breath. Delicious, is the byword.

From 23-year-old biodynamically farmed vineyards—and from arguably Australia's most famed Riesling producer—this reveals heady yet delicate aromas of lime leaf, lemon, white floral and talcum powder—with a stony, mineral undertow. It pulses on the bone-dry palate, driving a straight line down the tongue with racy acidity and chalk-dust texture. A multifaceted wine now, this most classic Clare Riesling could age in bottle for well over a decade.

The 2023 Springvale Riesling is exotic, fleshy and sumptuous in the mouth. Steely minerality flows alongside saffron, curry leaves, white pear, spring flowers and crushed rocks. It's a really, really pretty, wine. A gorgeous thing and a total pleasure. I like it—is that obvious?
