Grosset Polish Hill Riesling 2014

PolishHill_2014_no shadowThe 2014 Grosset Polish Hill Riesling surprises with voluminous lemon blossom aromas bursting from the glass. Then it’s supple and round initially on the palate giving a delightful mouthfeel before the more characteristic power and tight, steely structure kicks in reminding you that this is Polish Hill. The primary flavours are more evident than is often the case with wonderfully pure lime juice and lemongrass before a finish that has a surprising softness. Certainly, there’s refreshingly dry and vibrant cleansing acidity and some shaley minerality on a finish of remarkable persistence and length.

WBM Trade ‘100 of the Best’ Tyson Stelzer March 2015

In fragrance, purity, energy and slatey mineral texture, Polish Hill transcends a season of extreme heat and rain. The riesling of the year to date, and set to live confidently for the long-term. 97 Points

…Fruit and flower nuances swiftly give way to a powerful yet surprisingly delicate sucking stones/swirl of oyster shell minerality which plays out over a long, very long, taut, precise, finish. Wonderful and, I might add, well worth all that attention on the tasting bench… it took 2-3 hours each morning over three weeks to settle upon the perfect (and it is) wine.

James Halliday’s Top 100 ‘The Weekend Australian Magazine’ November 22-23, 2014

By the doyen of Riesling makers, a super-elegant, beautifully balanced and crafted Riesling that becomes steadily more impressive with each sip, the flavours of lime an lemon wreathed by slatey acidity. It has years of improvement in front of it, but one can hardly be blamed for enjoying it now. 97 Points
