Grosset Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot_Noir_2012

Adelaide Hills – 250 dozen produced

This truly hand-crafted (and foot-plunged) single vineyard pinot is subtly complex, textural and tightly structured.

Delicately fragrant red cherry florals, a burst of primal mulberry and strawberry flavours and a velvety smoothness give the wine a surprising immediacy. Looking again there are hints of complexity: on the nose, light, briary notes, some darker berry fruits; a richness and concentration, wild blackberry characters which flesh out the palate: and importantly, fine, gentle tannins. It has precision and balance on a light, tight frame.

James Halliday ‘Halliday Wine Companion Book’ Edition 2017

With two ferments, one conventional, the other whole bunch, pressed to French Oak (60% new) for 12 months maturation. Shows the complexity Jeffrey Grosset was aiming to achieve; the structure ex whole bunches is filled out by a pot pourri of black cherry and plum fruit, the concentration of the small berry/small bunch vintage very evident. 95 Points.

Tyson Stelzer, WBM, July/August 2016

2014 represents a lighter and more fragrant season for Grosset Pinot Noir, a vintage of strawberry and red cherry fruit and an air of rose petals, underlined by layers of savoury spice. The finish is long and focused, presenting gentle tannin structure, fundamentally defined by tangy acidity. Potential. 93 Points.
