Grosset Piccadilly Chardonnay 2017

Piccadilly Chardonnay 2017

Adelaide Hills – 700 dozen produced

This is once again, from the ultra cool Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills. The extremely low yields from this vineyard ensure intense wines even in cool seasons such as 2017.

Perfumed and intense, the Piccadilly 2017 shows primary flavours of nectarine, peach and a hint of grapefruit against a backdrop of hazelnut complexity. This is refined yet exuberant with lively flavours and bright natural acidity on a fresh, crisp, pristine finish of impressive length. Delicious!

James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2020, 1st August 2019
From a south-facing cool site, fermented in 40% new French barriques (partial mlf), matured for 10 months. An iron fist in a velvet glove style, every aspect of the wine in harmony with the whole. White peach, grapefruit and melon aromas and flavours are inseparable, a hint of grilled cashew an afterthought. 96 points.

Huon Hooke, The Real Review, 24th October 2018
Light to mid-yellow colour with a shy, gently spicy aroma, the palate fruit-sweet and yet clean and refined, with lemon, grapefruit and nectarine touches. It’s bright and lively, with brilliant freshness and zest, and subtle notes of malt and spice. A seriously lovely wine of real but understated complexity. 95 Points.
