Grosset Piccadilly Chardonnay 2004

Grosset Piccadilly ChardonnayGrosset Piccadilly Chardonnay 2004

In common with recent Piccadilly Chardonnays, the 2004 vintage is lightly fragrant, although in this case it has more ripe peachy notes with overtones of fine cedary oak. There is intensity of flavour on the mid palate coiled around minerally, savoury characters before a finish which, is crisp due to the wine’s high natural acidity. Those who are familiar with the way the wine develops will know that its weight, complexity and flavour profile are already fleshing out, making this a most interesting and satisfying drink.

With perfect balance between its swishy, white flower, juicy white peach, honey fruit and suave oak, this is one of Grosset’s sexiest ever Chardonnays, reflecting the pristine polish of the man himself. Rate, but essential, this is yet another wine from this iconic producer that life is too short to miss out on.

A particularly stylish, smooth and seamless chardonnay of elegance, brightness and intensity. Its delicate floral perfume of pear, apple and white peach is enhanced by tightly integrated vanilla and spicy oak, with creamy, leesy nuances of cashew and wheatmeal. Long and silky, it effortlessly delivers pristine, vibrant chardonnay fruit wrapped in a lingering finish of soft acids and faint undertones of sweetcorn.  95 points

Deep intense nutty creamy smells infused with minerally stone fruit aromas open on the nose. The palate offers a deeply complex and powerful mix of fruit packed with complex subtle nuances. It’s built with precision and deftness and all that power still delivers long and tight. Drink now through 2010.  93 points
