Grosset Nereus is inspired by the classic Sicilian combination of grape varieties, shiraz and nero d'avola. Rarely blended in Australia, it has taken five vintages to establish the ‘Nereus style’. Originally intended as a weighty shiraz with a brightness and more linear palate coming from the nero d’avola, this 2021 vintage is confirmation that succulence, silkiness and drinkability are achievable as a medium-bodied wine. While unexpected, the result is wonderfully appealing. In 2021, Grosset Nereus has quietly briary aromatics which give it definition. There are succulent blackberry bramble flavours and a slinky silkiness on the mid-palate. It has attractive intensity and a finish that is smooth and gently lingering.

Estate grown at Grosset Rockwood Vineyard in the Clare Valley (A-Grade Certified Organic and Biodynamic) the wine is matured in French oak barriques (45% new) for 18 months.
