May 2nd, 2012 - Grosset Piccadilly Chardonnay 2009 Review

Ralph Kyte-Powell

The Age, Epicure 24 April 2012 Adelaide Hills chardonnay of the best type from perfectionist maker Jeffrey Grosset. It opens with restrained fruit, leesy richness and understated complexity. Nectarine, citrus, steely and nutty notes lead into a rich, tangy palate that has lovely flavour impact without any heaviness. The finish is very long and bone-dry.

96 Points Wine Taste Special Edition 63 April 2012 Haunting reflections of Ashton Hills’ 2010 Reserve Pinot echo in this wine, but it was only in a later conversation with Jeffrey Grosset that I discovered why: the core of this fruit is sourced from Ashton Hills’ back fence. There is no finer place for this distinguished… Read more »

Qantas The Australian Way April 2012 Not only is this the riesling of the vintage in Clare, it ranks among the finest under this label of the past decade. It is astonishing that such pristine purity and finesse of delicate white lilies, lemon and lime blossom and granny smith apples could be produced from a… Read more »

Chris Shanahan

Canberra Times 28 March 2012 …Grosset’s latest cabernet sauvignon-cabernet franc blend from his Gaia vineyard offers limpid, brilliant colour; pure varietal fragrance and flavour and a firm, fine tannic backbone.

Huon Hooke

Sydney Morning Herald ‘Good Living’ March 2012 Deep golden-amber colour is very forward for its age, but what a wine! Crushed-seashell aroma over honeyed botrytis and great concentration of riesling fruit character. Incredibly complex, powerful and sweet, with almost shrill acidity and searing intensity. Now to six years.

March 7th, 2012 - Grosset Off-dry Riesling 2011 Review

James Halliday

96 Points - The Weekend Australian Magazine March 3 – 4 2012 The uncrowned king of Australian riesling, Jeffrey Grosset, decided to label his wine Off-dry, partly to signal that this was the first new wine he had released in 17 years. It has 16g/l residual sugar… and has the inimitable elegance of all Grosset Wines;… Read more »

February 2nd, 2012 - Grosset Springvale Riesling 2011 Review

Huon Hooke

95 points – Gourmet Traveller WINE, Feb/Mar 2012 Excellent penetration, line and length. Lots of nuances: dried and fresh flowers, and herbs; a hint of yeastiness, subtle spices and citrus fruits. Intense and lively in the mouth, refined and taut, with energy and length.

95 points – James Halliday Wine Companion newsletter, 25 January 2011 Glowing yellow-green; very complex and luscious, the result of total botrytis infection; mandarin, lime, cumquat, a hint of creme brulee, then perfect balancing acidity. Will be fascinating to see how it ages.
